At Orvis, our mission is to use our nearly 150-year history of customer satisfaction and quality products to provide you with the finest items and service available, without exception. As the nation's oldest mail order business, and one of the longest-running retailers in the U.S., we are uniquely suited to accomplish our mission and to exceed customer expectations. Steeped in a heritage of outdoor traditions and distinctive country living, we invite our customers to enjoy a life that expresses a deep appreciation for the natural environment. Each year, to reflect our own appreciation of our sporting traditions and our commitment to the natural environment, we donate 5% of our pre-tax profits to conservation efforts nationwide.
Orvis Everywhere
Today, Orvis is much more than mail order. Though millions of our loyal and longtime customers receive Orvis catalogs each year, we now have more than 44 Orvis retail stores in the U.S. and the UK, and more than 500 Orvis dealers worldwide who sell and service the Orvis product line. Our newest stores will soon be found in Dallas, Raleigh, and Denver. And Orvis is on the web. Winner of the i.merchant 2004 Website of the Year, the Orvis website offers our widest range of products for men’s and women’s clothing, fishing, home, dogs, hunting, and sales. All of this is just a click away, and arranged for the easiest of browsing and ordering, with updated and in-depth product information, Orvis-endorsed lodges information, free fly fishing tips, travel packages, and much more.
Conservation
Orvis began in 1856 as a fly fishing company. To this day we remain more committed than ever to the sporting traditions and the natural environment. Orvis donates 5% of pre-tax profits annually to organizations that protect fish and wildlife habitat. Over the last six years, we've donated nearly $5 million to these organizations, including Trout Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, Coastal Conservation Association, Ducks Unlimited, The Conservation Fund, Ruffed Grouse Society, and The Atlantic Salmon Fund.
