Fishing Boats - Materials
Before, Fishing Boats were made of wood, but they were likely to leak too much. Nowadays, most Fishing Boats commercially available are made of aluminum or fiberglass. Some are even made of Kevlar.
- Aluminum
Aluminum Fishing Boats are no more than 18 feet long. They are made of thin metal sheets fastened together at the joints. Aluminum Fishing Boats can be transported easily by two or three persons because aluminum is lightweight. Likewise, aluminum Fishing Boat is cost-effective and almost maintenance-free. But since it is lightweight, it is possible that you will have a bumpy boat ride because it will bounce around the water. Though aluminum Fishing Boat is good for small-boat fishing, it is noisy. When something is accidentally clanked on the Fishing Boat, it will create sound waves on the water. Thus, it will scare the potential fish.
- Fiberglass
Fiberglass consists of layers of numerous types of resins of polyester placed on a wood or plastic frame. Unlike aluminum, fiberglass is heavy, that is why it is more stable. It also has more endurance as far as pounding waves are concerned and more flexible- fiberglass can be made into a hydrodynamic shape along with delicate curves.
Probably the biggest disadvantage of using fiberglass is its weight. Since it is heavy, you will need a relatively large motor to power a Fishing Boat made of fiberglass.
- Kevlar
Kevlar, the material used in making bullet-proof vests, is the result when you combine the features of fiberglass and aluminum, with virtually no drawbacks that aluminum or fiberglass has. Kevlar produces an exceptionally strong and at the same time lightweight Fishing Boat. It seems like Kevlar is the perfect material in making Fishing Boats. But it is very costly. This explains why very few people make Fishing Boats out of Kevlar.
It's up to you on what type of Fishing Boat to buy. Just bear in mind that your Fishing Boat should be able to meet your needs.
