Fishing Lures - Spinnerbaits and Buzzbaits
Spinnerbaits are
Fishing Lures shaped like large hairpins, thus, they are sometimes called hairpin lures. A Spinnerbait is made from a wire with a loop at the center and its arms are bent forming a letter V. A spinner blade is attached at the end of the top arm through a swivel. This permits the spinner blade to turn freely. A hook decorated with a skirt which flutters and waves when the Fishing Bait is pulled through the water.
Features
Spinnerbaits attract largemouth bass, muskellunge, and northern pike, because of the movement and color of the skirt in the hook and the flashes and noises produced by the spinner blade. Likewise, they are more weed-resistant than other Fishing Lures because the Fish Hook point is positioned upward between the arms.
Application
The simplest way to fish with a Spinnerbait is to cast and bring back the Fishing Lure like what you will do with a spinner. Vary the speed of retrieval and the weight of the jig to create action and depth which you think are attractive to the fish.
Buzzbaits are another type of Fishing Lures. They are like Spinnerbaits. The only difference is that instead of a spinner blade, a Buzzbait has a device like a propeller attached on the upper arm, which is bent, making it parallel to the bottom arm. The upper arm passes through the middle of the flashy blades of the propeller. These blades spin very fast upon retrieval.
Features
The Buzzbait works very well when the angler quickly pulls it up in such a fast rate that the propeller creates noises as the buzzbait breaks out of the water. This attracts fish, particularly largemouth bass.
Application
Buzzbaits are practically easy to use. Just cast them out and reel back at a steady retrieve. What you have to remember is that you need to start reeling the moment the buzzbait strikes the water, especially if you are fishing in waters with heavy vegetation, or else, your buzzbait will be tangled in the plants and that surely is not a pretty sight. A better way is to keep it low to the water by throwing it side-arm.
Fishing Lures vary in features and types. Just take note that each has its own use/s. To be able to use the lures properly, make sure to consider the water conditions and the Fishing Variation that you do.
