Fishing Safety and Guidelines - Removing a Fish Hook
Minor accidents may occur while you are fishing. It is necessary to at least have an idea on what to do when slight mishaps arise. Have a first aid kit with you everytime you go on your Fishing trip. Also, be extra careful when it comes to using your
Fishing Tackle, especially the Fish Hook, unless you want to end up unhooking your skin instead of unhooking the fish.
In the unlucky event that you get one of your fingers hooked, do not go into hysterics. You can remove it even without professional help. But it can lead to more serious damage if not done properly.
It is easy to remove a Fish Hook from the skin if the hook point is not embedded with the barb. Pull it out and you're done with it. The difficult one is when the Fish Hook penetrates your skin beyond the hook barb. This procedure is excruciating, but you need to unhook your finger immediately. First, push the Fish Hook in such a way that the hook point and barb come out in a different skin spot. With wire-cutting Pliers, cut the Fish Hook beneath the barb. Push back the Fish Hook out of your finger. Clean, apply antiseptic, and then bind the wound.
Be careful when you are removing a Fish Hook from your finger. It can do more harm than good if you do it hastily.
