Fishing Safety and Guidelines - Sun Protection
Fishing under the sun all day can give you sunburn. It is just temporary but if you keep on getting too much sunlight, you may eventually get a skin cancer called melanoma. They say that people with light complexion are more prone to skin cancer, since they do not have enough skin pigment. But even if you do not have fair skin, take no risks. Whatever skin complexion you have, do not take this for granted.
To protect you from these dangers, here are some reminders:
- Make it a habit to apply sunscreen before fishing. Sunblock with at least SPF 15 will make you protected. Just reapply as often as needed.
- Wear light-colored clothes that will cover most of your skin. A long-sleeved shirt and lightweight pants will work well. Even if you cover most of your skin, some sun's ultraviolet light can come through your garments so apply sunscreen before putting your clothes on.
- To protect your face, wear a Fishing Hat. Apply sunblock for the face as well.
A good pair of sunglasses with UV protection is also necessary. This will protect your eyes from too much glare and permit you to clearly see what you are doing.
- Dehydration is likely to happen during hot days. So aside from your getup that will protect your skin, you also need to protect yourself from drying out. Drink a lot of water. Eight glasses or more will do. By doing this, you will be able to replenish all fluids that came out of your body mainly through perspiration. Fruit juices are fine but steer away from carbonated and caffeine-filled liquids.
Take extra precautions when Fishing. You need all the protection you can get to have a hassle-free Fishing adventure.
