Fishing Tools - Bobbers
Bobbers, also known as floats, serve as indicators when a fish has taken the bait. Likewise, they keep the bait from touching the bottom. A bobber quivers or jerks on the water as soon as a fish has taken your bait. The portion of the bobber which floats is usually painted white so you can easily find it. The other part is painted red or with any contrasting color to determine when a fish already takes the bait or not.
Ball Bobbers
The ball bobber got its name from its shape. It is a round plastic device with a recessed hook on the top and the bottom. Push the spring-loaded button on the top of the bobber to expose the hooks and run the
Fishing Line through the two hooks. Bigger ball bobbers work well when fishing shiners or suckers.
Slip Bobbers
A slip bobber is a round or pear-shaped float made of either plastic or hard foam. It is characterized by a hole drilled through the center. It is used by running the Fishing Line on the hole and a tapered plastic or wooden stick inserted into this hole will hold the slip bobber in place. Some styles of slip bobbers have a vertical cut through to the Fishing Line hole. With this feature, you do not have to remove the Fish Hook from the Fishing Line, thus, attachment and removal of a bobber is a lot easier.
Pencil Bobbers
A pencil bobber is a long, slim float with a small hook attached on one end. This is good to use when you are after small fish. Use this together with red worms or other small Fishing Baits. When the pencil bobber stands up, it indicates that a fish has taken your Fishing Bait. In windy weather, use a large pencil bobber so you will be able to see clearly when a fish takes your Fishing Bait.
Don't let the fish get away before you even realize that it has taken your bait. Keep a couple of these floats in your tackle box everytime you go Fishing.
