Fishing Tools - Pocket Tools
Small things can do great things, just like the Pocket Tools necessary in Fishing. These include clippers, pliers, de-hookers, and hook sharpeners. They are the basic tools that will come in handy in different Fishing situations.
Clippers
The major pocket tool is the Clippers, or that gadget used in trimming fingernails. This tool is usually attached to a retractable reel on a vest. Clippers are used to cut the Fishing Line when you need to change a Fish Hook or
Fishing Lure. They are also used to cut the excess Fishing Line after making a Fishing Knot.
Pliers
Another important tool when you are fishing is the Pliers. They are useful in removing
Split shots, bending barbs on Fish Hooks, tightening loose lines tied on Fishing Lures, and removing Fish Hooks from the fish you have caught. A good type of Pliers is the long-nose pliers. You will have a firm grip on their non-slip handles. They work best in removing Fish Hooks from sharp-toothed fish and on instances where your Fish Hook was gulped down by the fish.
De-hookers
Its name says it all. De-hookers vary in designs, shapes, and applications. The simplest kind of De-hooker is a long, thin rod made of plastic with a slot at one end. This slot makes it possible for you to track the Fishing Line all the way to the gullet of the fish to the Fish Hook. Bring de-hookers with you if you are after large fish.
Hook Sharpeners
Also called hook hones, Hook sharpeners are bars or rods made of rough, rock-like material. They are easy on the pocket and very easy to use. To sharpen a Fish Hook, just move the point of the Fish Hook back and forth on the shallow, thin channel on the Hook sharpener. Your Fish Hook will be sharpened in virtually no time at all.
Big things come in small packages. You may not know it, but these little Pocket Tools can be of great help in Fishing.
