Fishing Tools - Snaps, Swivels, and Snap-swivels
Snaps, swivels, and snap-swivels are small steel devices which differ in size and quality. They are used in circumstances when you need to fasten a Fishing Line and another line or attaching a line and a
Fishing Lure. They vary in finishes- silver, brass, matte-black, and are very low-priced. It is advisable to buy the most expensive pieces. To attach them in your Fishing Line, make an Improved Clinch Knot . Here are the applications of snaps, swivels, and snap-swivels.
Snaps
Having snaps make changing of Fishing Lures and Sinkers easier. A snap is a device shaped like a small diaper pin. To use the snap, tie it to the end of your Fishing Line, open the snap, put on a Plug, close the snap, and then you can already begin casting. Snaps are good tools except when you are fishing with Fish Hooks. A metal snap is bigger than a Fish Hook, so if you use them together, they may scare the fish away since they do not look like part of the environment.
Swivels
A swivel helps reduce line twist. It is used when fishing for pike or pickerel with a relatively light Fishing Line. Situations like this will require you to use a Leader made of a heavier line which cannot be ruined by some toothy species. Tie a swivel in between your Fishing Line and Leader in order to reduce the twisting of Fishing Line. Line twisting is very likely in this condition since the light Fishing Line tends to wrap itself on the Leader so it would be better if you will use a swivel.
Snap-swivels
A snap-swivel is a snap attached to a swivel, so obviously, it is a two-in-one device. It can do what a snap and swivel is made for. Whenever you use a Spinner, make sure to tie the Spinner to a Snap-swivel. This is important since the action of a spinner can lead to line twisting until it is all worn out. Its swivel, which has two metal line eyes rotating freely, will decrease line twist while its snap makes it easier for you to change spinners.
Reduce line twist by using Snaps, Swivels and Snap-swivels. Put these devices in your tackle box everytime you go Fishing.
