Here are some safety tips in fishing:
To avoid skin cancer and other diseases that cause by the sunlight you must wear protective clothes as well as
sunglasses, hat or cap, and gloves. You may also bring an insect
repellent.
Always check the weather forecast before heading out to fish.
If you will use a boat, check if it is in proper condition. If you
ever encounter any problem with the boat, spare parts and tools will
come in handy.
Before casting, look around you to avoid hitting someone else.
It is always advisable to have a Fishing buddy. If there is no one
available that can go with you, inform someone of where you are going
and what time you plan to go back.
Bring enough food and water supplies, as well as a comprehensive first aid kit.
Ask the local authorities about the Fishing seasons and the angling rules and regulations in the area.
Handle the fish carefully as you can get hurt with its sharp teeth
or scales. Take extra caution when placing baits and removing hooks.
If you are planning to go Ice Fishing, know the ins and outs of the
activity and inspect the area as most accidents occur because they do
not know which ice is safe or not.

Cool... one thing always tell a third party your plan of action with or without a fishing partner. Tell them where you plan to go and your back up fishing spot. when you are going to leave, who you are going with or if you plan to go alone. How long you plan to be fishing. Then when you get home check in the third party. So they do not get worried for nothing.
Have fun fishing, good luck and be safe.
