Fishing is one of the basic activities inherent in man's idea. People enjoy fishing as a sport or even more make it for a living. To start, check your states if they had this fishing license requirements because some of the states had this policy to see if a license is required to fish. Second, purchase the proper equipment you need for your fishing. Get a fishing rod and reel, hooks, weights and a bobber to keep your line afloat, fishing lures and net to bring in your catch. As you become a better fisherman you can upgrade your fishing equipments. But for a beginner like you it is important to keep things simple.
Enjoy fishing - is a sport that can be enjoyed by all!!! And be safe always. God bless.
wow thanks chay.. to start fishing all you need is a fishing rod. do you know what type of fishing rod that will fit for my skill.. im a newbee here and don't know what kind of fishing rod I can buy. Please help me choosing whats the best fishing rod for me.. thanks.....
I fish for many types of game fish. I fish for larger fish like Halibut and I use a 6' 6" heavy rod with a big level wind reel loaded with 100 pound test. When I fish for Salmon I use a long 10' 6" medium mooching rod and a single action reel with 25 pound test. But when I fish for trout I use a 7' light rod and a spin cast reel loaded 4 or 6 pound test. S o what kind of fish do you have near your home? Ask around at your tackle shop for what works best in your neck of the woods... Good luck and Welcome to the wonderful sport of fishing.
thanks eaglewind for your advice. by the way, the kinds of fish that was available are small mouth bass and st. peters fish. So what kind of rod that's gonna be fit for this kind of fish.
1. 6' 6" heavy rod with a big level wind reel loaded with 100
pound test. 2. long 10' 6" medium mooching
rod and a single action reel with 25 pound test. 3. 7' light rod and a spin cast reel loaded 4 or 6 pound
test.
Important thing to remember when selecting a rod, you should be able to hold the fishing rod in one hand comfortably. You can also purchase inexpensive combination packages of rods and reels. But you'll need to know what type of fish you'll catch so that you know the weight of the fish relates to the strength of the line you use.
for these kinds fish I would use a 7' rod. But as a beginner I would use a heavier line like 15-20 pound test. You can buy some braided line like Spiderwire or Tuff line but they cost more but are much stronger than mono.
by the way you can look at my albums that I have in this site... I don't have any pictures of the freshwater fish that I have caught but I will remember to take my camera when I fish for trout. But all the lakes are frozen and we don't ice fish here. so in the spring I will be sure to post some pictures of the freshwater fish that I will catch and the lakes that I fish.
The fish in my profile picture is a Chinook Salmon. It weighted 50 pounds. I caught it on my morning off. I work in Shearwater Marine Resort... Check out our web site at shearwater.ca
