hi everyone !
I'm doing a Master in translation this year ( English into French) and I would need some explanation about the workings of a rod. Here is the sentence that's causing me troubles, would you mind explaining it to me ? I'm not sure I picture the right object in my mind. Thank you so much !
(PS : the term that I can't find anywhere is "cam", do you know what it refers to?)
(the guy, Matt is trying to repair a rod whose reel is apparently stuck)
" It was an elegantly compact system of wheels and pawls and a cam, controlled by a button on top. He studied it, pulling gently on the line while doing this and that. The cam seemed stuck in a odd position, so he pressed it gently. Suddenly, a click, and the line pulled loose."
