I love to catch catfish but don't really know how to handle them once I pull them out of the water. I usually use a towel to hold them but they can still fin you through the towel. Can someone give me tips on how to hold a catfish without getting finned? Thanks

Just slide your fingers behind the left & right side fins & let your palm rest on the dorsal fin. You can also have a rag with you to make it easier. Using a towel is a good idea too!

Best bet is to get some fish gloves so you can hold them better and never ever go from the head.

Oh well, I usually use a chefs glove (haha) with the intergrated steel mesh. The glove
allows me to handle catfish without dropping them.

they call it chumming... it's just basically throwing balls of a mixture of a specific recipe bait into the area that is to be fished... then you can fish like normal...

During spawning times, catfish can be found close to the waters edge in lakes and ponds. Some may be caught by hand, if you are quick and agile. Otherwise, fish in shallow water can be speared with a long knife tied to a pole or scooped up in hand held fishing nets.

Lemme add one important thing...
Always avoid the spines! Catfish have a mild venom that can cause discomfort. They
have three spines and you must hold the body of the fish without getting stuck with the
spines.
So never ever, try to hold it without heavy gloves.

Try this put your hand in a loose fist, lift your thumb up a bit and
stick your thumb on its mouth. Your index finger should be under its
chin, its teeth are kinda sharp but not that sharp to do a
damaged.
