Fishing Poles

photo from: www.dynamitebaits.com/index.php?id=659&usergroup=match Fishing is an exciting activity that can be done by people of all ages. To make it a worthwhile experience, getting the right equipment is an important factor. Using the inappropriate Fishing tool or one that is of poor quality will cause problems such as tangles and lost fish.

Those who have been doing this activity consider it as a sport which is designed for relaxation. It gives them pride when they catch fish and celebrate it with their families and friends. This can be achieved by using the right pieces of Fishing gear with features that are suitable for the type of Fishing that you do.

The original method of Fishing is with the use of rods. A spinning rod, in which the entire shaft of the rod can move on its axis except the handle, is used to allow flexibility when fish caught on bait struggles through the water. This is also best used in catching fish found at the bottom of the sea. When fishing at 180 to 200 ft. under the ocean’s surface, jigging rods are used. These are used with heavy lures and baits which are made of solid materials to make them heavy. A typical Fishing Rod measures six to sixteen feet.

A Fishing variation called Pole Fishing makes use of Fishing Poles instead of rods. There are many advantages of using poles in Fishing. One, these can be used to fish in shallow or fast rivers, to small ponds or large lakes. Also, it comes in different strengths, lengths, and designs. Fishing Poles can be used to fish with a great level of precision and sensitivity. Lastly, when poles are being used in the hands of a professional angler, the result would be a successful catch.

Fishing Poles can be made of natural materials such as canes. Cane poles are said to be the smallest and less sophisticated tool in Fishing. These are made of bamboo or other flexible wood materials. Cane poles do not have reels for retrieving fish caught on bait. Homemade cane poles are heavy because of their large diameter and are somewhat awkward to transport since these are made as single-piece poles. Commercially made cane poles are smaller in diameter, making them lighter and filled with ferrules which allow them to be taken apart for ease of transport.

Fishing Poles made of synthetic materials like fiberglass and graphite are lighter and more sensitive than cane models. These types of poles are usually multi–piece or telescoping, thus, very portable. Telescopic poles can also be adjusted to various lengths for different Fishing situations.

Good anglers keep in mind that a good day of Fishing depends not just in equipment but also in weather, time of day, moon phase, and skill level. There will always be challenges whether one decides to fish either in the river or in the open sea and whether he or she uses a rod or pole. Determination and persistence are keys for a successful catch.
