Florida Fishing

Florida Fishing It is not a wonder why Fishing in Florida is very popular. Everything from its great waters, favorable weather, and abundant fish species, down to its convenient boat charters and available equipment all spell a fun, memorable, and plentiful Fishing Trip.

Whether it is a holiday vacation with your family, or a spontaneous weekend getaway with your friends, you will not go home empty-handed from Florida. The best known freshwater game fish in the state is the largemouth bass. Bass species grow in abundance in all waters of Florida, particularly in the productive lakes in central part of the state. Another popular catch are varieties of panfish or bream as they are more commonly called in Florida. These are found in Florida lakes, dams, rivers, and even below dams. Other fish species which can be found throughout the state are the striped bass, white bass, and sunshine bass.

If you are planning to go Fishing in Florida, then spring is the best time to set sail. The schools of fish usually spawn into the shallow waters during this season. They start surfacing as early as January but March and April are the peak months. When most of the catch are taken during these months, the schools of fish usually move to offshore areas.

Some of the famous Florida Fishing lakes are Lake Okeechobee, Crescent Lake, Lake George, and Lake Tarpon. Thanks to Florida’s extended coastlines, you’ve got more waters to fish from. Along the East Coast, you’ve got the Mayport Bar Pilots Dock and Trident Pier, while the Gulf Coast offers Fort Myers, Port Manatee, and Clearwater Beach. You can also sail along Vaca Key and Key West of the Florida Keys.

You will not have any trouble chartering a boat in Florida because you can find more than two dozens of open water charters and other inshore or bay charters. You can have the charter arranged online prior to your trip, or simply drop by the many charters when you get to Florida.

Before you get carried away in your whole Florida Fishing endeavor, you have to keep in mind that Florida is serious in the protection and non-exploitation of its rich water resources. Because of the popularity of Fishing, both as a recreational activity and a sport in the state, certain provisions made by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are implemented. The Florida Recreational Saltwater Fishing Regulations stipulate certain Fishing requirements and limitations such as size limits, species identification, as well as season for fishing.
