Fishing Disciplines - Night Fishing
Night Fishing is an altogether different experience compared to that which is done during daytime. Depending on how you look at it, Fishing in the Dark can be a boon or a bane to your overall Fishing experience. But if you do not like fishing under the heat of the sun, then this one’s for you.
Preparing for the Trip
As you know, fishing at night can present some unique challenges to you especially if you are used to daytime Fishing. The first challenge of course is the darkness that will surround you during the trip. To overcome this, you have to pack lighting equipment such as a torch. While you would not need to use it while fishing because it can scare the fish away, you will definitely need it during emergency situations. Also, bring extra batteries with you.
Aside from torches, bring warm clothing. The temperature can drop significantly during the night so you would want to have something to keep you warm during the entire trip. Hot drinks will also be helpful during cold conditions.
Bring a first aid kit. The kit becomes even more necessary at night because it is more difficult to diagnose a wound during this time.
Finding the Right Location
With the pitch black darkness around you, finding the right spot to fish may be difficult. On the contrary, fishing at night could be tantamount to a turkey shoot in the ease of catching fish. Most fish tend to hunt at night and with the dark, it is easier to lure them with your Fishing Bait because they are unable to see your Fishing Line, unlike when fishing during the day.
Also, keep in mind that good Fishing spots during the day aren’t usually good spots at night. To be extra sure where to fish, nothing beats local knowledge. Try to ask around even before you set out on your boat. It can save you a lot of time from going around the waters and going home empty handed.
Night Fishing can be a great and totally unique experience especially if you are well-prepared. We hope that this article can be useful during your next Fishing trip at night. Enjoy and stay safe!
