Catching Coho Salmon from Willamette Falls Allowed

CLACKAMAS – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have approved the fishing-rule that allows Coho Salmon to be catched from Willamette Falls on the main river and some major tributaries.
The rules are as follows:
- Both hatchery fin-clipped and unclipped coho can be kept. Limit would be two adult salmon or steelhead and five jack salmon a day.
- In all cases, closed areas near dams, fishways, diversions, etc., that are listed in the 2006 Oregon Fishing Regulations remain off limits.

Coho Salmon are also known as silver salmon or “silvers”. The typical size of an adult coho in the run is 6 to 14 pounds.
