Northwest Sportshow Celebrates 75th Anniversary Feed

TUESDAY, 27 MARCH 2007

Organizers and exhibitors are ready to celebrate the 75th Annual Northwest Sportshow. The show takes place at the Minneapolis Convention Center starting today through April 1, 2007. The Northwest Sportshow has become the Midwest's largest display of travel, hunting, fishing and camping booths. This year will feature more than 600 exhibitors filling all four domes of the Minneapolis Convention Center.

"The Northwest Sportshow is an important Minnesota tradition," said Jennifer Thompson, Show Manager for the Northwest Sportshow. "To celebrate our 75th Anniversary, we're creating a theme for each day with special giveaways and prizes."

For the last 75 years, the Northwest Sportshow has offered visitors the newest products for the outdoors enthusiast and continues to be a destination for all things related to hunting, fishing, traveling and camping. The 2007 Northwest Sportshow will include seminars from walleye fishing greats Ted Takasaki and Gary Roach as well as dog training, fly fishing, crappie and muskie fishing, turkey hunting, RV-ing and more.

This year, the Northwest Sportshow is focusing on attracting more women to the show. Thursday, March 29th has been designated as "Women, Wine & Wild Game" Day. Women will enjoy wine tasting provided by Smoking Loon wines and wild game cooking demonstrations and sampling provided by Chef Theo Petron. Seminars focused on fishing and hunting for the whole family will also be presented on this day, along with some special prize giveaways for the ladies.

Kids can once again enjoy The Adventure Trail Pass program, designed to introduce children to all of the adventure the outdoors has to offer. Participants will begin at the Underwater Adventures Aquarium room where they will pick up an activity map and learn about life underwater. Other stations on the Adventure Trail Pass Program include: Discover Fly Fishing, Laser Shot Hunting Gallery, Mobile Archery Range, and the Melanoma Awareness booth where children can learn about sun safety. The show also features a host of other activities for the family including fishing at the Trout Pond, a display of North American Wildlife and the Travelin' Fish Tank.

Show hours are: Tuesday, March 27 from 5 pm to 9 pm; Wednesday, March 28, Thursday March 29, and Friday, March 30 from 1 pm to 9 pm; Saturday, March 31 from 10 am to 9 pm; and Sunday, April 1 from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission prices are $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 13-15, and admission is free for children 12 and under. Discount adult tickets for $8 are being sold at Cub Foods locations throughout the state through March 26. For more information and to purchase tickets online, visit www.northwestsportshow.com.
