Angler Catches 67-lb. Catfish, Breaks State Record

In searching for a blue catfish, an accomplished fisherman caught a 67-pound blue catfish. Ron Lewis of Point of Rocks, Md. caught the blue catfish while fishing in the tidal Potomac River near Fort Washington, Maryland.
The catfish measured 51 inches long with a girth of 34.5 inches. It broke the previous 65.5-pound state record set by Josh Fitchett two years ago. Fitchett caught it in the same general area of the Potomac.
Fishing for blue catfish has immediately emerged in the tidal portion of the Potomac River. Anglers who fish for catfish has often shared skills and tips.
The catfish will reside in a public fish display at Bass Pro Shop in Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover, Md.
