St. George - The annual Fishing Derby in St. George will be held on Saturday, May 11, at the Tawa Ponds. The fishing derby will start at 8am and will end at 2pm. The event is free and open to children 12 years old and below.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles, cooler, and chair. To those who do not have their own poles, fishing poles and bait will be provided at no cost.
Aside from catching fish, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will also conduct fishing etiquette lessons. Prizes will be given to the participants.
The fishing derby is co-sponsored by the Southern Utah Anglers, Dixie Wildlife Federation, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and the City of St. George. The Tawa Ponds is at 2200 West Snow Canyon Parkway by the Canyons Softball Complex.
