Curry County Commissioner Marlyn Schafer will ask the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODF&W) to spare Curry County from the river fishing dates they set for the year. According to Schafer, fishing in Curry County’s rivers should not be limited on certain days.
On June 6, the ODF&W will set the fishing regulation. That will be the time to determine whether the Curry County is also restricted into certain fishing dates or not. Schafer wants to make sure that the regulation will not be applied to them.
The county commissioner believes that the fishing regulation that will take effect in the upper coast should not be brought in Curry County. Curry County’s people are practicing healthy fishing and that their rivers have more fish than the rest of the state.
