When I am out jigging for Halibut and cod. It's a relibale reel for big game fish like Halibut. It has strong drag so cranking big "Barn door" like halibut and Ling cod would not become any lighter. But knowing you are using a good reel with a good drag, it shoud make you feel better. On getting your big fish into your boat. Good Luck!
